The INRH was created by the Cuban Revolution on August 10, 1962 at the time backed by Law No. 1049. The institution headed by Commander Faustino Pérez Hernández was founded, which at that time had the arduous task of laying the foundations of hydraulic work when designing the first national hydraulic strategy based on the country's economic development and launching an ambitious construction program, also assuming the attention of the aqueduct and sewerage services. On June 6, 1989, through Decree Law No. 114, a new Central Administration of the State was created, which takes the same name as the one founded on August 10, 1962 and is maintained on August 10 as the day of the hydraulic worker. Currently the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, has in its structure with a President, three Vice Presidents, 17 National Directorates, 3 Independent Departments, 4 Business Groups and 14 Provincial Delegations.
